Sim Hee-Og

Abstract
This study showed a case of sandplay therapy for a 1st grade boy who had a severely handicapped older brother having thorough treatments from the client¡¯s birth. Because of the unusual caring for the brother, the client had a difficulty of having appropriate parenting. The mother expected the client to behave more maturely with severe discipline for his immature behaviors. The client showed emotional difficulty, such as withdrawal, talkativeness, separation anxiety etc. There were 34 sandtrays of animals, monkeys, people, unconscious and conscious repeatedly shown. The client was in oral fixation state and fed his repression and fixation during the early sessions of the therapy. He appeared very comfortable without talking verbally in this therapy since he said many things through his sandtrays. He revisited the period when he was emotionally deprived and repeated struggles and achieved and became emotionally independent from his mother. Finally he finished his internal works with establishing strong ego development by showing a train running and peaceful and flowery scenery.
